Questions about Walk Kilimanjaro
Everything you need to know before you start on November 2.
Joining
Who can take part?
Adults 18 and older who have reached the age of majority where they live, in any country where the challenge is allowed. Some countries and regions are excluded, including countries under U.S. sanctions, Quebec, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Argentina and the U.S. territories. See the full list in Section 2 of the Official Rules. If your internet location (IP address) or app store country is in an excluded place, the app may not let you start the challenge. Siyan Clinical employees and contractors can take part too.
I work for Siyan Clinical. Can I join?
Yes. Siyan Clinical employees and contractors can take part and can earn the $5 Amazon finisher gift card on the same terms as everyone else. Staff who work on running the challenge or the draw (the finisher list, the draw, winner checks or prize delivery) cannot win the six drawn prizes. Joining is optional, and managers will not pressure or track participation.
How do I sign up?
Download Siyan Stride, sign in, connect Apple Health or Health Connect, open Journeys and choose Kilimanjaro: Machame Route. Confirm that you are 18 or older (and of legal age where you live) and live in an eligible country, then tap Start free preview (first 10 miles). That is your registration. There is no form and no email list.
When do I start?
Download any time, then start the route on November 2. If you join later, that is fine, but all 54,700 steps still have to be walked by November 22.
Can my walking group, family or office team take part together?
Yes. Each person walks their own Kilimanjaro route and you can cheer each other on in your own group chat. The app’s shared group journey adds everyone’s steps together, so it does not count for the challenge.
Walking and finishing
How many steps do I need?
54,700 synced steps on the Kilimanjaro route between November 2 and November 22. That is the 24.9-mile Machame Route from Machame Gate to Uhuru Peak, and about 2,600 steps a day for 21 days.
What if I miss a day?
Walk a little more on other days. Nothing resets.
What counts as a step?
Steps synced from Apple Health or Health Connect. Steps or walks entered by hand do not count toward finishing.
How often do I need to open the app?
About once a week. Each time you open it, it syncs your last 30 days of steps. Open it by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on November 25 so your final steps are counted.
The route paused at 10 miles. Did I do something wrong?
No. The free preview pauses at 10 miles, usually around day 9. Your steps keep counting toward the finish, and you can finish without buying anything. Premium Plus unlocks the rest of the route and its postcards on your screen.
Rewards and the draw
What do I get for finishing?
The first 300 eligible finishers to reach 54,700 steps (as recorded by the app) each get a $5 Amazon gift card and a Kilimanjaro certificate. The gift cards go out in the order people finish. After that, no more gift cards are available, but every eligible finisher gets a certificate and is entered in the draw for the six bigger prizes.
What if more than 300 people finish?
The $5 Amazon gift cards go to the first 300 eligible finishers to reach 54,700 steps. Later finishers are still entered in the prize draw on the same terms. Your chance in the prize draw does not depend on how fast or how far you walk. The $5 Amazon gift cards do: they go to the first 300 finishers, in the order they finish.
What are the bigger prizes?
One grand prize of a $150 Amazon gift card plus 12 months of Premium Plus, and five runner-up prizes of a $30 Amazon gift card plus 3 months of Premium Plus each.
How are the six winners chosen?
By a random draw on November 30 from all eligible finishers. Each has exactly one entry. Free-trial walkers and paying subscribers have the same chance, and walking more than the finish line does not help your chance in the draw. The draw is recorded so it can be checked.
What are my chances?
They depend on how many people finish. The Official Rules state the odds once the number of finishers is known.
When and how will I receive my reward?
On December 1, we email the first 300 finishers and the six prize winners at the email you signed in with. Before we send anything, we ask you to reply and confirm your country (and your state or province). We never ask for ID for a reward or prize under $600, and we do not ask for tax forms for them. Prize winners also get a one-time code for their Premium Plus months. Prize winners must reply to the email to accept by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on December 14 (10 business days, counting the December 1 email as the first day). Opening the email is not enough. If a winner does not reply, cannot be reached, or the email bounces, the prize goes to the next name on the draw on December 15. Amazon gift cards work only in the Amazon store of the country they are issued for. If we cannot send an Amazon gift card that works where you live, we send a substitute as described in the Official Rules.
Will my name be published?
No. We do not publish a winners list. Winner information will not be publicly announced without the winner’s consent, except where disclosure may be required by law.
Premium Plus and KILI30
Do I have to pay to finish or win?
No. No purchase is necessary to join, finish, or be drawn for a prize.
What is KILI30?
KILI30 is a code that gives you one month of Premium Plus free. It is for new Premium Plus subscribers only, can be redeemed from November 2 to November 17, and is limited to the first 1,000 redemptions. It works where your App Store or Google Play country supports offer codes. It is optional and never needed to finish or win.
Will I be charged after the free month? Do I need to cancel?
Yes, you will be charged unless you cancel. When the free month ends, your subscription renews automatically at $7.99 a month (or $59.99 a year if you chose the yearly plan) in the US. In other countries, your App Store or Google Play shows the price in your currency before you confirm. If you do not want to continue, cancel at least 24 hours before the free month ends. You can cancel any time in your Apple or Google subscription settings (steps below).
Can I get a refund?
Siyan Clinical Corporation cannot issue refunds. Apple and Google process all Premium Plus payments, and refunds are decided by Apple or Google under their own policies. To avoid a charge, cancel before the free month ends.
How do I get Premium Plus in the app? (step by step)
You can do this any time, on iPhone or Android.
- Open Siyan Stride and sign in. Use the same Apple ID or Google account you normally use for purchases on this phone.
- Tap Profile, then tap View membership options. (You can also go to Settings and tap Subscription.) When your route pauses at 10 miles, the Continue with Premium Plus button opens the same screen.
- Choose a plan: $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year in the US (your store shows the price in your currency).
- Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, your passcode or your Google Play payment method.
- Premium Plus unlocks within a few seconds and your route continues. Every step you walked while it was paused is credited. If it does not unlock, open the membership screen and tap Restore purchases.
How do I apply the KILI30 code? (step by step)
Redeem the code inside the app, so it goes to the right account. Do not open it from a web browser.
- Open Siyan Stride, tap Profile, then tap View membership options. (Or Settings, then Subscription.) The route-pause screen does not have a code button, so use this path.
On iPhone
- Scroll down and tap Redeem a code. Apple’s redeem sheet opens.
- Type KILI30 and tap Redeem.
- Confirm the one-month free offer. Premium Plus unlocks in the app.
On Android
- Scroll down and tap Redeem a code. A box titled Enter your code opens. Type KILI30 in the Promo code field and continue.
- The Google Play app opens with the code filled in. Tap Redeem and confirm the subscription.
- Go back to Siyan Stride. Premium Plus unlocks within a few seconds. If it does not, tap Restore purchases.
Codes work once per person. If you see a message that your account already has an active subscription, the code cannot be applied, because it is for new subscribers only.
How do I cancel so I am not charged?
Siyan Stride cannot cancel for you; it is done in your Apple or Google account.
On iPhone
- Open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Siyan Stride, then tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial).
On Android
- Open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Siyan Stride, then Cancel subscription.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the free month ends. You keep Premium Plus until the end of the period you already have.
Premium Plus costs $7.99 a month in the US. Is there a yearly price?
Yes, $59.99 a year in the US. Other countries see local prices in the App Store or Google Play. If you buy at the pause, every step walked while paused is credited at once.
Privacy and safety
Is this open to Siyan Clinical patients and employees?
Yes, patients and employees can walk along. Joining is completely optional, and it has no effect on anyone’s care, appointments, billing or job. The challenge is a general wellness activity, not treatment, and your step counts are not part of your medical record. Patients have the same chances and rewards as everyone else. Siyan Clinical employees and contractors can take part and earn the $5 Amazon finisher gift card; staff who run the challenge or the draw cannot win the six drawn prizes.
What does the app see?
Siyan Stride reads your step counts from Apple Health or Health Connect to move you along the route. Your information is stored and processed in the United States. You can delete your data at any time in the app: open your profile, then Request account deletion. Read the full Privacy policy for details.
Is it safe for me to do this?
Walk at a pace that feels comfortable. About 2,600 steps a day is a gentle target. Siyan Stride does not provide medical advice, so talk with your doctor before starting a new activity if you have concerns.
